Singer Corbette Jackson Gets Camplified!

Friday, July 15th, 2011

We’re loving this new blog post from the super-cute singer/songwriter Corbette Jackson! This Southern gentleman had amazing things to say about his first show with Camplified, check it out:

On Sunday, the boys and I headed up to Camp Blue Ridge in Mountain City, GA to play our first show for the Camplified tour! For those of you that don’t know, Camplified is a really cool organization that brings concerts to summer camps all over the United States. There is a group of artists that perform each year and I am fortunate to be a part of this summer’s program.

Now this was my first Camplified show and I had no idea what to expect- I had definitely never played for a summer camp before. But I can tell you now that, after Camp Blue Ridge, I cannot wait to play another one! Everyone was awesome and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. (Read more on CorbetteJackson.com.)

Corbette Jackson is playing the following Camplified 2011 dates:
July 10 – Camp Blue Ridge
July 31 – Camp Danbee
August 1 – Kutsher’s Sports Academy

Camplified Gets PRANKED!

Tuesday, July 12th, 2011

We are in the middle of our second leg of the South and it’s been off to a great start. On the way down to Georgia, we stopped off at my house in New Jersey where we got to do laundry, eat some real food, and relax. We ended up staying the night, and I couldn’t have been happier to spend some time with my parents and sleep in my own bed. It was a nice little departure from life on the road. The next day we got down to Georgia in a total of 11 hours due to my insane driving, a pretty incredible feat which left tour manager Dre terrified in the backseat.

However, he was able to get his revenge yesterday when he got involved in a “Color War” prank at Blue Ridge Camp without telling us. For those who have never heard of Color War, it is a camp-wide event every summer in which the camp breaks in to two teams, competing in games that lead to a victor on one side. It is usually one of the biggest and most anticipated events of the summer, so the camp traditionally “breaks” the news about the competition by pulling an elaborate practical joke. Well, last night, the joke was not only on the campers, but the Camplified crew, too!

Early in the day, Dre pulled as all aside to let us know of some “issue” with a performance permit and that the show might not be able to happen, also adding that if the police did come, we should all be prepared to run. Later that night, Dre became embroiled in an “argument” with a counselor after calling him out on “not having a good time” at the concert which led to some shoving as the police came back to “check” on the “permit.” Both of them were handcuffed and put in to the back of the police car in front of all the campers during the meet and greet. Meanwhile, the Camplified crew is running around, trying to figure out what’s happening, and freaking out. As the phone is literally ringing to let Aimee, the head of Camplified, know that our tour manager was arrested, the camp director finally tells us it is all a joke, from the permit, to the fight, and especially the arrest. The campers found out a few minutes later when Dre and the counselor came back in the police car, throwing out papers with the team names accompanied by fireworks. Campers couldn’t have been more surprised and relieved. Despite nearly giving us a heart attack, we all had to give Dre props on putting on probably the best prank in Camplified history! -Alex

CAMPLIFIED TOUR CELEBRATES 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY
Giving Emerging Artists a Platform for Exposure & Connecting Brands with Teens

NEW YORK, NY (July 11th, 2011) – Celebrating its 10th Anniversary, the 2011 Camplified Tour hit the road last week in Ashville, NC at Camp Highlander. Developed by music executive Aimee Berger and powered by Primary Wave Music (www.PrimaryWaveMusic.com), one of the largest music publishing, marketing and talent management companies in the US, Camplified (www.Camplified.com) is a summer concert tour that is making stops at over 60 summer camps nationwide and will reach over 30,000 teens/tweens, bringing them a unique, age appropriate captive rock concert experience. This annual summer concert tour creates an exclusive music festival environment for one day at each camp along the tour, where campers are treated like VIPs with all day access passes. The day kicks off with the campers and artists participating together in branded activities provided by sponsors and ends with a 90-minute concert performance by three different emerging bands/artists. Following the concert is a meet-n-greet where campers will receive an autographed 2011 Camplified poster and have the chance to meet the featured artists.

Last year, Camplified helped launch the career of teen pop-star Cody Simpson and this summer joining the 10th Annual Camplified Tour are 28 talented, emerging artists such as singer/songwriter McKenzie Comer, sister duo Jenny and Ashley, Jessarae, Brkn Rbtz, Corbette Jackson and many more (full roster below). Sponsoring this year’s Camplified tour are brands including Cartoon Network promoting their new show “Adventure Time,” Scholastic Books, Playtex Sport, Monkey Brains, i-Safe Backpacks, DEOS, and more. Each sponsor creates a branded activity such as an obstacle course created by Cartoon Network, a “WAT-YOU-GOT Talent Contest” by WAT-AAH, “DEOSPHERE” where campers compete to design custom DEOS headphones, Epiphone Guitar clinics taught by the artists and much more.

Additionally, popular teen publication Justine Magazine is onboard to give Camplified campers, with an interest in journalism, an opportunity to be a “Camper Guest Reporter” for the day. The Camplified crew sets up a “media center” where each camper reporter interviews other campers, artists, counselors and brand representatives and the content is exclusively posted on Justine Magazine’s website for their readers to follow the fun and be exposed to these up-and-coming artists. As an added bonus, there will be “Green Screen Photo Booths,” where campers can take pictures of themselves in fun superimposed, branded scenes that they can then share with friends and family over their various social media accounts. All campers also receive a branded music download card, featuring one free song from each of the artists on the 2011 Camplified tour.

Camplified is a win-win experience for all involved – campers, artists and the brand sponsors. Campers get a celebrity, music and branded VIP live concert experience, complete with give-aways; Emerging bands/artists are able to go on tour, perform on stage and further build their fan-base; and, Sponsors get to directly connect their brand with this concentrated audience of 6 – 17 year old tweens/teens, an especially hard to reach demographic during the summer. In a music industry that is constantly trying to find creative ways to market new artists, this one-of-a-kind tour fills 135 performance slots over just two months and gives emerging artists an unbelievable, cost-effective platform to directly connect with their target audiences, while further developing themselves into true rock stars.

On The Road: Little Sleep (But Tons of Fun!)

Saturday, July 9th, 2011

As a die-hard Northeasterner, I have to say I’m happy to be back in my native province. I really did love traveling through the South because I got to see a bunch of things I’ve never witnessed before; the Blue Ridge Mountains, some really cool camps, and Walmart after midnight. However, there really is no place like home. Despite a pretty grueling schedule (last night was the first time I slept in a bed in three nights!) and a lot of rain, we had a blast. The campers had a great time at our activities and the concert; which really kept us going after some serious sleep deprivation. After finding out over half of Camp Canyon hails from Spain, I got to practice my high school Spanish, which is something I never thought I would do in West Virginia. We finished our first run in the South yesterday, finally arriving back in Syracuse, NY on an overnight drive. The Camplified road crew is actually going to be splitting up soon, as one group heads to the Midwest while the other goes to Georgia and Florida and I’m already feeling the separation anxiety. Sad face emoticon for the Camplified crew. -Alex

Camplified: Bringing Mohawks & Music To Camp

Wednesday, July 6th, 2011

What a couple of days! The opening sessions at Camp Highlander and Camp Thunderbird were a blast. I’ve been right in the mix with the campers, loving every second of the shows. The artists have really come to play, and I’ve seen two great concerts. Today we had our first activities session; which proved to be an awesome time had by all. Despite some outrageous heat and sweating out a typhoon, the afternoon’s events were really fun. I gave some of the campers mohawks with the Monkey Brains hair gel and made my own little army of punk rockers that would make The Sex Pistols jealous. While trying to give a demonstration of how the iSafe backpack works, I partially deafened myself which the kids seemed to enjoy. As I’m writing this, we’re on the way to West Virginia, almost all the way to the Ohio boarder. I’m pretty sure I’ll be getting almost no sleep for the next few days as we’re going to be traveling some pretty long distances between shows. I’m betting the campers’ energy is going to get me through it. Who needs sleep when you have rock ‘n’ roll summer camp? -Alex

Camplified: On The Road Again

Saturday, July 2nd, 2011

And so it begins! Camp crew member Alex, here… the Camplified crew has set out on its 10th anniversary tour, bringing music, games and entertainment to camps all across the country. The journey started at the New York City headquarters, where we got our first glimpse of the notorious Camplified van. This year, our traveling home is a 12-passenger sprinter, decked out with Camplified artwork of our artists, sponsors, and of course, our logo. Life on the road has just started, but it’s shaping up to be a great summer. We’ve already had a reason to celebrate besides the tour kickoff; crew member Katie’s birthday. Festivities were sparked by a surprise midnight fireworks show and cupcakes during a food stop. We’re currently traveling through North Carolina for our first date of the tour at Camp Highlander. After months of preparation, we’re all super excited to present the first Camplified experience of the summer. One decade of Camplified tours and we can promise; it’s never been better. Campers, get ready!

Stay tuned for more updates from me and the rest of the tour crew, as we’ll be reporting all the juicy details right here, including hilarious on-the-road stories, behind-the-scenes camp adventures and more! -Alex
