The Cranks Rock Camplified!

Tuesday, August 9th, 2011

Alternative rock band The Cranks recently played at Happy Days Camp and Community Day Camp in Bayside, NY — the campers went wild! Band mates Hayley, Greg and Connor also had a blast, check out their guest blog about the show:

We’ve known about Camplified for a while so when we got invited to play we were really excited to be a part of the fun. We got our set together and got ready to hit the wilderness… then we found out our camp destination – Queens, NY. Huh? How can you paddle a canoe in Queens? So on the drive down from Massachusetts we had trouble picturing the campsite in our heads.

We got to the pickup spot, a Home Depot nearby and the shuttle took us to the park. Turns out, the camp was in Flushing Meadows Corona Park, site of the 1964 worlds fair – a humongous park right there in the city so it all started to make sense! The site was incredible.

When we got there, it was already about 90 degrees but the stage was set up on this giant deck right next to a lake and the wind was blowing across it to keep things a little cooler – along with some help from refreshing bottles of Wat-aah!

We immediately began playing with the campers and putting CRANKS tattoos on their arms, faces and anywhere else they wanted.  We also held a screaming contest to pick sign holders and looked at tad poles with them from a large deck.

Because we had gotten to know the kids during the day, they went crazy when they saw us on stage. We threw T-shirts and beach balls into the crowd and the campers were so excited to try and catch them.  After the set we had our meet and greet and gave away CDs and T-shirts to our sign holders and other campers who had helped us during the day, as well as “Alexandra” who started the tattoo frenzy.

Camplified was a phenomenal experience! We all had so much fun playing music for and hanging with the campers.  We can only hope to have more experiences like it!

CAMPLIFIED TOUR CELEBRATES 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY
Giving Emerging Artists a Platform for Exposure & Connecting Brands with Teens

NEW YORK, NY (July 11th, 2011) – Celebrating its 10th Anniversary, the 2011 Camplified Tour hit the road last week in Ashville, NC at Camp Highlander. Developed by music executive Aimee Berger and powered by Primary Wave Music (www.PrimaryWaveMusic.com), one of the largest music publishing, marketing and talent management companies in the US, Camplified (www.Camplified.com) is a summer concert tour that is making stops at over 60 summer camps nationwide and will reach over 30,000 teens/tweens, bringing them a unique, age appropriate captive rock concert experience. This annual summer concert tour creates an exclusive music festival environment for one day at each camp along the tour, where campers are treated like VIPs with all day access passes. The day kicks off with the campers and artists participating together in branded activities provided by sponsors and ends with a 90-minute concert performance by three different emerging bands/artists. Following the concert is a meet-n-greet where campers will receive an autographed 2011 Camplified poster and have the chance to meet the featured artists.

Last year, Camplified helped launch the career of teen pop-star Cody Simpson and this summer joining the 10th Annual Camplified Tour are 28 talented, emerging artists such as singer/songwriter McKenzie Comer, sister duo Jenny and Ashley, Jessarae, Brkn Rbtz, Corbette Jackson and many more (full roster below). Sponsoring this year’s Camplified tour are brands including Cartoon Network promoting their new show “Adventure Time,” Scholastic Books, Playtex Sport, Monkey Brains, i-Safe Backpacks, DEOS, and more. Each sponsor creates a branded activity such as an obstacle course created by Cartoon Network, a “WAT-YOU-GOT Talent Contest” by WAT-AAH, “DEOSPHERE” where campers compete to design custom DEOS headphones, Epiphone Guitar clinics taught by the artists and much more.

Additionally, popular teen publication Justine Magazine is onboard to give Camplified campers, with an interest in journalism, an opportunity to be a “Camper Guest Reporter” for the day. The Camplified crew sets up a “media center” where each camper reporter interviews other campers, artists, counselors and brand representatives and the content is exclusively posted on Justine Magazine’s website for their readers to follow the fun and be exposed to these up-and-coming artists. As an added bonus, there will be “Green Screen Photo Booths,” where campers can take pictures of themselves in fun superimposed, branded scenes that they can then share with friends and family over their various social media accounts. All campers also receive a branded music download card, featuring one free song from each of the artists on the 2011 Camplified tour.

Camplified is a win-win experience for all involved – campers, artists and the brand sponsors. Campers get a celebrity, music and branded VIP live concert experience, complete with give-aways; Emerging bands/artists are able to go on tour, perform on stage and further build their fan-base; and, Sponsors get to directly connect their brand with this concentrated audience of 6 – 17 year old tweens/teens, an especially hard to reach demographic during the summer. In a music industry that is constantly trying to find creative ways to market new artists, this one-of-a-kind tour fills 135 performance slots over just two months and gives emerging artists an unbelievable, cost-effective platform to directly connect with their target audiences, while further developing themselves into true rock stars.

Camplified Founder Aimee Brings The Rock To KSA

Friday, July 16th, 2010

Last May, I was heading to Central Park on my bike like I do every year to join the Skier family (of AMSkier Insurance) and many of their friends for the TD Bank Five Boro Bike Tour, which helps support the American Diabetes Association. As I was on my way to meet the group, I noticed an incredibly tall man and a petite woman by his side speaking to Henry Skier. Both faces looked very familiar, but I couldn’t place them right away — maybe because it was 8am in the morning, and I don’t like to be up before the crack of noon (especially on a Sunday). I began to wake up real fast when I realized that this couple was Marc and Caroline White, the directors of Kutsher’s Sports Academy, the camp I attended over 25 years ago! Memories from camp flashed through my head and in typical Aimee fashion, all I wanted to do was chat them up about camp, old friends, counselors and the latest on the new spot in Great Barrington, MA, where the camp is now located.

Fast forward to last Sunday, when the opportunity came to be that Camplified, in its ninth season, would roll onto the new KSA property — sound crew in truck, staff in Camplified van, followed caravan-style by Thomas Fiss’ branded Samsung van, Rachel Platten and Highbench. This would mark the first time that Camplified would embrace Kutsher’s, as well as my first time back at camp since the 1980s, a place that shaped many parts of my life, my brother’s and many of our Florida friends. Driving up to camp, along the windy roads, I nearly jumped out of my skin with enthusiasm, as if I was back on the bus so many years ago, pulling into camp with all my friends. And then there was that moment, where you realize your not 13 anymore, you are grown up and in front of you rests the place that inspired Camplified in its entirety. It was so surreal — the tears rolling down my face partially attributed to happy childhood memories of camp and also the reality of what my life was like back then. I remembered Parents’ Day at camp, when my grandmother was still alive and she would accompany my parents to see all the activities her grandchildren were enjoying at summer camp. It amazes me how fast we all grow up. (more…)
